Two of my dog-walking friends recently told me they'd gotten rid of cable. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Well, you live in some hippie earthy crunchy neighborhood anyway! Your neighbors are too busy being skyclad and recycling against racism to watch tv!" But in fact, both folks in question are big TV fans. They've just chosen to get their TV elsewhere.
If you have Netflix, you can get just about any worthwhile TV show on DVD delivered to your door (With the notable exception of Get a Life, which, apart from that out of print Rhino DVD with only 4 episodes, has never seen a DVD release! I mean, honestly. You can buy Jake and the Fatman on DVD. I don't know why you would, but you could. And yet this groundbreaking dadaist sitcom remains unavailable. Your cockfights suck, you bastard.). You can also watch quite a few shows streaming directly to your computer or to your TV through your Xbox 360 or other device. I've been catching up on Dr. Who this way!And there's lots of stuff available on hulu and crackle, too. And the occasional decent horror movie over at Fearnet.
