So, yeah, I did something really dumb and financially irresponsible: I lined up on Friday morning and bought an Iphone.
Mind you, I already have service on another carrier, not to mention a perfectly good phone. I have a certain amount of environmental guilt about this and, really, about much of my life. I mean, I've read all the stuff about how if we all do our little bits, like recycling, composting, and biking to work, all of which I'm doing, we can make a big difference, but the thing is, most people are doing nothing at all, so I feel kind of guilty about everything I do to increase my carbon footprint. Let me say, though, that this is a hell of a lot better than feeling guilty about being a white man--I flirted with that flavor of guilt back in college, and it's just a lot easier to feel guilty about what you do instead of who you are because you can change what you do.
Well, you can in theory, anyway. In practice, you are a tool who lines up for the latest electronic geegaw you don't need. Or maybe that's just me.
Well, I'm not usually a liner-upper, but I was up early anyway and didn't really have anything else to do, so I found an AT&T store with a short line and lined on up.
Passersby mocked those of us in line openly.
But enough of that--the phone is just so damn cool I can hardly stand it. I mean, I can now do just about anything I want, computer wise, nearly anywhere I want.
Of course, I never really go anywhere, but that's beside the point. Did I meantion that it's really really cool?
